Eye in the Sky (35th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray Audio)

Engineer for Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, producer of Al Stewart’s Year of the Cat, and bandleader of The Alan Parsons Project among many other credits, Alan Parsons has put the “studio” in the term “studio musician” throughout his long and multi-faceted career in the music business. Now, we at Real Gone Music are proud to present on bluray DVD one of The Alan Parsons Project’s greatest albums, the muliti-layered masterpiece Eye in the Sky. The group’s sixth studio album, Eye in the Sky was written by Eric Woolfson (who passed December 2, 2009) and Alan Parsons. A conceptual musical meditation on a variety of belief systems—the album’s title refers to casino surveillance, earth-circling satellites, and the all-seeing eye of the Egyptian God Horus—Eye in the Sky has proved both timely and timeless, a remarkably prescient view of art, religion, politics, and culture for the 21st century. Originally released as part of the 35th Anniversary Boxset (released worldwide in December 2017), the 5.1 Surround Sound mix was engineered by Alan Parsons in April 2017 at Capitol Studios LA and is an auditory experience like no other. Says Parsons, “It was a wonderful experience to hear all the multitrack tape tracks from Eye in The Sky again—and for the first time in nearly 35 years, in their raw unmixed form. Hearing the various elements, performances, and moments of magic that were selected for the final mixes of the songs was an amazing experience… Audiophiles will be pleased to hear the brand new 5.1 Surround Sound mix, which I am extremely pleased with incidentally, and also a Hi Def stereo version taken from the original analog stereo master tape which was recorded simultaneously alongside the digital mix”. Eclectic and visionary, Eye in the Sky covers a variety of musical and thematic bases, and is one of The Alan Parson’s Project platinum-selling albums. Now it can be heard in a new, fully immersive way.

  1. A new – and important – type of war movie Nine Things About the Film “Eye in the Sky”1. This is one of the best movies of 2016. It’s intelligent, suspenseful, and relevant.2. I’ve never seen a war movie like this one. It’s about the use of drone strikes on terrorist targets, and the complicated things that must happen before a drone actually attacks. Much of the movie is seen from the viewpoint of the drone flying above the suggested target, dispassionately tracking things, no matter how emotional…

  2. A timely and disturbing portral of the remote drone war on terror. A timely and emotionally disturbing picture of the drone war against terrorism and the ultimate price of collateral damage. We are brought into a British intel operation, in coordination with the Kenyan military on the ground against the Somali terrorist organization, Al Shabbab trying to run a suicide bombing mission in Kenya, but the drone aircraft is US and the pilot and system operators are based in the U.S. All three military organizations are working in close coordination on this mission…

  3. Strong Stimulus to figuring things out, or weak propaganda? I can’t say… In my view, this film makes (what I hope is) its point in spite of its every effort and, in that sense, one might say that it snatches victory from the jaws of self-defeat.Let me explain. I hope the point of this film is to portray a deeply emotional and suspenseful event in a way that is balanced enough to make all viewers less sure of their moral positions. This, in my view, would be useful both to each of us and to society as a whole. However, along the way it gives…
